Talking about silences………..i came across something interesting years ago, which realy spoke to me. It was said that when reading/listening/understanding music…………………….that the ‘pauses’ were just as important as the notes/words. The pauses are what make the piece make sense. Often in our world we are uncomfortable with silence, but when we take time out to be quiet before God………….and when he appears to be silent; it is often then things start to make sense. otherwise the words/notes/life is non stop and makes no sense. Transition or in music the bridge is important……..to lead on to the highlight/climax of a piece. We need truth, e.g. is silence realy a bad thing?? because the truth will set us free.

Tim Barton says:

That is rather exciting. I think I will have to print that out and read it again and really ask the Lord to open my heart to what He is saying.
I am so encouraged (in a weird way) that there were periods of huge silence in the bible and throughout history, it gives us hope that although there are times of silence the Word of the Lord does come and is coming again. Do we need to respond to this? How do we respond to this? Do we read our scriptures more or spend more time with believers? Hmmmm.

Adrian says:

This prophetic insight seems to fall in line with other prophetic words spoken in national forums; here is one from The World Prayer Centre in Birmingham.

Just before you read it, I would like to say that it is my conviction that in our post modern world where our culture fears and refuses any ‘absolutes’ in terms of truth, that God is re-establishing His word in the hearts and lives of those who love Hm. Through the revelation of scripture by the Holy Spirit we come to know and love ‘the word of truth’ Jesus Christ. I feel that we are in a season where ‘truth’ is being contended for and I am excited at the endless possibilities but also conscious of the huge challenge we face to help every believer discover ‘ the truth’.

I felt the Lord saying that there is a new move of the Spirit coming quite soon to this land, but I felt the Lord saying that this is a time to get ready for it and the only way to get ready is through His Word coming to us to position us for that moving of His Spirit. And I felt the Lord saying this move is going to be different from previous moves – that often some of His previous moves have come with quite a lot of fanfare, or noise, a lot of white water, as it were, and have had quite an affect; it’s been quite a display really, it’s been very visible. But I felt the Lord saying that these moves, though He deliberately made them to create a bit of a splash, didn’t have the sort of depth to them that this new move is going to have, and that this new move is going to be quite gentle but it’s going to have a lot of surge power behind the wave.

I don’t know whether you have ever been in Australia and places and sometimes the waves come in and there can be some big ones but often you can get small ones but they have a huge amount of power even in a low level wave that can carry you with it very easily.

And I felt the Lord saying, ‘don’t look for the big tsunami sort of wave but look for that gentle power that is going to flow through this land’. And only through His word can we be positioned appropriately in relation to that wave, that move, and it’s going to come gently but behind its gentle front there is this huge depth of surge power that keeps it going and going and going and going and going.

Pause

I felt this wave is going to reshape the spiritual landscape of Church and indeed the nation.
And I felt the Lord saying that He is going to send His word ahead to prepare the way, to prepare the hearts of the people.

And I felt the Lord bring my attention to when, in the inter-testament period between the end of the Old Testament and the beginning of the New, there was nothing that we have recorded heard from the Lord for four hundred years; a bit like the four hundred years of captivity of Israel in Egypt, so there was about four hundred years of silence and then the Word came. And I feel that we have been in a drought of the Word of God; lots of words, we are in a culture saturated with words, even Christian words, but the defining Word of God has been very rare. And it’s that Word that is going to emerge out of the chaos of words. It’s as if a Word is going to distil out of the chaos of words and it will be clear and unmistakable, ‘this is God’s Word speaking’, ”this is the living Word of God’, as opposed to the words about God by men. And it’s that word that will shape the hearts for this coming move. And it felt as if this move, because its going to change the landscape, the surge factor is that it’s going to penetrate very deeply into the inner-most being of people, into the heart of hearts, there will be no corner un-illuminated, no stone unturned; that’s the surge factor. It’s going to go right into the very root systems of identity and heart in the nation and even of institutions and change them from deep root heart in terms of their very orientation and identity.

Yes, great article. And definately see some themes there for what God is doing across our area and nation. A year of truth sounds rather challenging, but glorious! I wondered if anyone had any thoughts about whether Stibbe is speaking only specifically about the bible when he refered to the Word of truth. As he is speaking through a ‘prophetic word’ do you think he’s including prophetic words as part of the revealing or maybe interpretation of The Truth?

John & Sue Whitehouse says:

Wow!!! How fanstastic is this word, confirming our two services this Sunday where God spoke identical messages through the members of our congregation. If you missed it ACC ask for the DVD to catch up; it is well worth it. Another local network have just set up their meetings for this year and The Fathers Heart has been chosen as the theme, seems God is saying the same thing to ua all!
