Vision
WHAT is the vision of Amblecote Christian Centre? Teaching about His vision and mission, Jesus is very clear who we should be and what we should do.
He says (Luke 10:27): "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and love your neighbour as yourself."
He calls us to be lovers of God first - the vision, and then to share that love with others - the mission. It is that scripture which provides the basis of our vision for the present and the future.
Big companies rely on mission or vision statements to keep their business on track. Walt Disney's vision is to 'make people happy' and Coca Cola's statement says they want 'to refresh the world...'
The difference for us is that we believe our vision is God-given and that we have a responsibility to work it out together spiritually and practically. We need to love Him first and then share that love with each other and the community. These two life-changing things inspire every church activity and will keep our church right on track.
OUR VISION
Love the Lord our God and love our neighbours
Our vision - if you like, a journey with a purpose - is to learn to love God with all our heart, soul, strength and mind and in doing this bring His love to those within and outside the church.
OUR MISSION
To establish a Christ-centred community of believers equipped to build God's kingdom
The church - Amblecote Christian Centre - is part of God's kingdom on Earth.
Our church may not change the world, but it can have influence for Christ in the community, helping those who are needy and marginalised and many of them are the neighbours we don't know.
We want to be known by God and others for the life of Christ seen among us. As followers of Jesus we long to establish His kingdom rule here on Earth. We invite you to join us in loving God, loving each other and loving our neighbours. Let's look at how that might work out. . .
How does this work?
A community that is Christ centred
Our goal is to ensure that in all things and in all ways we have Christ at the centre of our lives, individually and as a church family. Jesus must take centre stage. We do not want to build our lives on inspirational people or a programme of events.
A community that is reaching outward
We want to live in the selflessness of the gospel: Simply, a life that aims to put others first. Jesus said: "Go into all the world and make disciples." Perhaps we need to think more of God's plan for meeting the needs of others rather than our own.
A community that values both spiritual and secular jobs
God makes us all ministers of His love. We all have this commission but traditionally some have placed those in fulltime, paid Christian work in a different category to those in secular employment. The truth is there are no distinctions with God and He values us all and all of our work.
A community with strong relationships
We are made by God to have strong, authentic relationships: This is essential in God's kingdom. Remember, God's original plan is for us to be His family where He is Father.
A community of whole-life disciples
We are committed to submit our whole lives to the Lordship of Christ. Some think 'going to church' is spiritual and 'going to work' secular. Our discipleship should involve every area of our lives.
A community that recognises gifting and talent
It is our desire to recognise, encourage and release people's talents and gifts for the benefit of those within and outside the church community.
