On Sunday 19th of October the Storm Youth team heard about the plight of children used as slaves in coco plantations in Africa. Marion Lowe and Steven Cook facilitated an interactive learning session on the production of coco and its use in the chocolate industry. Over 16000 children work 12 hour days for little or no income in coco plantations. The live in horrific conditions and are frequently beaten for poor productivity. Marion and Steve explained that the only chocolate guaranteed to be free form child labor is fair-trade.

Everyone then tried a wide range of chocolate from different fair-trade produces. As you can imaging this went down very well! If you want more information email Marion at amelowe@blueyonder.co.uk

Club 12-15 is our Friday night youth club at Amblecote Christian Centre and is run by young people, for young people.

SOCIAL ACTION
Teenagers go into their local estates to impact them in a positive way. This can range from playing football on the Hawbush estate to visiting older folk in homes.

DEBATES AND DISCUSSIONS
We want to engage young people and challenge their thinking. To do this we have regular discussions and debates about key social issues which are prepared by young people.

SOCIALS
This is a chance for young people to use all the facilities at the Amblecote Christian Centre and have an awesome time of establishing community together.

GET ME OUT OF HERE!!!!
We take our young people out to a range of events which give them an amazing time. Whether it is Ice Skating, Live Bands, Concerts, or Barbecues everyone has a great time! Keep an eye on the website for details of trips.

PUSH

Posted by acc on September 21st, 2007

PUSH is a youth club aimed at non christian young people from our local area, predominately being from the Wordsley School. Our focus is to build up relationships with the young people and ultimately showing Jesus to them. We start back this evening, Wednesday 5th September 2007, and we are looking forward to another great year! We have an excellent team, they may be young but they are great youth workers and servants! If anyone would like to help us out on an evening (especially guys as we have a shortage) that would be great. If you are interested let Jane or myself know.

God Bless

Keeley
