Mission…a year on

This is the garden the Mission11 team completed as part of the mission week. A year on the garden is well kept and a great place for the family to spend time in.

Reaching Young People – Pool Tournament

Working with one of our mentees at Wordsley school we organised a pool tournament for a group of lads who come to our youth club each week. It was a great tournament and gave the young people an opportunity to be in a safe place doing something positive during half term. The prize was a £15 voucher won by the young person who had organised the tournament. Spending time playing pool, eating with young people and just having a laugh gives our youth workers an opportunity to build relationships and continue to share the love of Christ with the young people.

Reaching young people – Storm Away Day

February half term is a great opportunity for us to work to reach young people. Sharing the love and message of Christ in very relevant ways.

On Wednesday 15th Feb we took the opportunity to take our Storm group (the group of young people who leave the service on a Sunday morning to have teaching that really impacts where they are at) on an away day. We had been working through the ‘Soul’ series from Christianity Explored, looking at the life, mission, death and resurrection of Jesus through the book of Mark. The away day began with the line, ‘its great to follow Jesus, but it is tough!’. Then we looked together at the things that God gives us to enable us to follow Jesus day by day.

These times away are also a great opportunity to invest in relationships and spend time together as a family. We did a long hour walk to Kinver to have dinner giving plenty of time to chat with each other as we went. It was a fantastic day and everyone enjoyed themselves.

Youth leaders together – great night

Imagine the scene, seatees are set up costa style, coffee’s are in hands, and music playing. Over 20 youth leaders gather together to focus around ACC Youth in 2011.

It was a great night together that included some hilarious ice breaker games, video highlights from 2010, sharing what we see for 2011 and some time spent praying into each of our fantastic groups. The main highlight was seeing so many people passionate about the youth connected to our Church family, and seeing the highlights from the amazing year we had in 2010. After the ice breaker games and highlights we took some time to hear about each of the activities / groups that happen at ACC Youth, then spent some time praying for those that lead the activites. It was a great time.

I think we were all reminded again what a great thing God is doing among us at ACC Youth. Through youth clubs, projects, teaching, weekends away, missions and loads of other stuff He is making Himself known to us. A great evening with some wonderful people.

Outragious Grace

I’ve recently found myself listening to Godfrey Birtills song outragious grace once again. A song, I am sad to admit, I really didn’t like about 5,6,7 years ago. I think the truth is, I had listened to the song with my ‘external’ ears, thinking it’s s bit slow, a bit morbid, etc.

But now the song has struck me, now, as God has opened my ears I find myself wanting to cry out, mid-song, it is outrageous grace, he’s right, Godfreys done it again, and what has he done? He’s put into words something I’m feeling inside, what grace, I mean WHAT GRACE!!!!

And then it dawned on me, did I know His grace before, when I wasn’t bothered about the song? And it made me think about how we listen to a song, or read a book, listen to a preach or have a conversation. Are we listening from our gut, our heart, the bible often calls it the inner man, the spirit? Or are we listening with very ‘human’ ears? Check out the song

Phil Wickham – beautiful

Phil Wickham – Beautiful. The brilliant song we learnt at the last youth service. Oh what a song!
